Jacob Klinger from PennLive.com reported last week that Ayers would turned down a practice squad offer from the Steelers if he did not make the 53 man roster.
Ayers was selected in the 7th round out of Houston last season. After battling injuries early in the season he was signed to the active roster for the final two games of the season. He then played in two playoff games before being a healthy scratch against New England.
