Taking a Hard Look at Steelers' Team Needs (Ranked)

1. CB - Joe Haden is solid, but aging. There is no clear No. 2 CB for the team. Coty Sensebaugh is average depth and Artie Burns is wildly inconsistent. Steelers need a top-tier outside CB.

2. LB - The loss of Ryan Shazier is still holding this team back. It’s time to find a quick, rangy linebacker who can cover and stop the run.

3. EDGE - Bud Dupree has been a disappointment. Steelers need an EDGE rusher who can get to the passer and occasionally drop back into coverage.

4. OL - Offensive line doesn’t look to be a need at first, but considering Ramon Foster, Matt Feiler, and B.J. Finney are all impending free agents, there might be problem. Would like to re-sign at least 2 out of the 3 linemen.

5. S - Terrell Edmunds and Sean Davis are decent, but the Steelers need a ball-hawk in the secondary. Steelers love putting Edmunds in the box, so additional safety depth could not hurt.

6. WR - Darrius Heyward-Bey and Justin Hunter should be gone, and while I like Eli Rogers (and think he could be brought back), Wide receiver is still a need. Depth pieces, special teams ace’s and an occasional starter may be necessary. If Antonio Brown does end up getting traded, this jumps up all the way to No. 2.

7. TE - A 2nd TE may be required if Jesse James is let go. Steelers will look for someone with consistent hands who can go in-line and block, especially if they don’t bring back Xavier Grimble. If they he does come back, they may look for more of an athletic, vertical threat.

8. RB - The Steelers No. 3 RB is still a pretty big need. Steven Ridley has not played well and the Steelers could use either a prototypical power back for the short, 1-yard runs, and/or a smaller, quicker receiving back with speed and burst.
