The most valuable and well-known sports teams in the world include huge NBA franchises and internationally renowned soccer clubs, as well as MLB teams. However, the truth is, it is the NFL - National Football League that has the greatest and most valuable teams. The best example of this is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Undoubtedly, the NFL was created to give all teams a chance to grab the Super Bowl title, and each team is trying their best. But it can be said that the current league regulations don't let teams maintain the straight line to victory we have witnessed in past years.

Some unexpected teams become great contenders. Anything can happen in sports. But when it comes to choosing a team that is formidable and consistently competitive, it's hard not to recognize the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since the merger happened in 1970, the Steelers are considered one of the best organizations in the NFL from top to bottom.

The Pittsburgh Steelers: A Power-Packed Team In the NFL

Formed in 1993, the Steelers compete in the NFL as a member of the AFC-American Football Conference, North Division. In fact, they are the AFC's oldest franchise.

Since 1970, the team has created the best record in the NFL. If you check the records, you can find that the Steelers have won the most divisional titles, total games and have also managed to maintain the highest winning percentage.

The team has reached the playoffs 30 times and have 22 divisional titles. Till now, they have played more than 16 AFC championship matches and have cornered six Super Bowls titles out of eight. The team's overall record, it is 668-575-22.

A huge portion of the team's success goes to the Rooney family. With the support and guidance from Chuck Noll (Head Coach, 1969–1991), the team managed to form an era of unmatched success by winning four Super Bowls (1975, 1976. 1979 and 1980). He also helped many players to get inducted into the Hall of Fame, like Terry Bradshaw, John Stallworth, Lynn Swann and more.

During the 1980s, the Steelers’ magic faded slightly, and then their favorite head coach retired in 1991. However, Bill Cowher took the responsibility and showcased his amazing talents in leading the team to the playoffs in 10 seasons. His decision to promote Dick LeBeau to the defensive coordinator position helped the team a lot, and LeBeau formed a team who became popular for its formidable defense. They became so popular that their defense was highlighted by well-known stars such as Kevin Greene, Rod Woodson and Greg Lloyd.

The team managed to maintain their successful journey in the new century and in 2006, they won their fifth Super Bowl title and in 2009, they cornered their sixth.

Currently, the head coach of the team is Mike Tomlin who took over in 2007. By the end of the 2021 season, the team had managed an overall record of 162-94-2, including playoffs. Tomlin has yet to face a losing season.

In regards to the team's offense currently, it has looked quite suspect as of late. Kenny Pickett, Pat Freiermuth, and Najee Harris are still trying to find their footing. However, looking at the current standings, they can easily solidify their spot in the playoffs.

It's All About Creating a Perfect Team

The Steelers understand the real process of establishing a successful and popular franchise. The owners have trust in players, and this is something most football franchises forget to consider while building a team.

Other teams run with a "win-now" mentality and make trades frequently without thinking about the results in the long run. Most people would say the Steelers are much better in terms of players being drafted and groomed. Well, this is true, but they also accept the method hit and miss. They know the tricks to choose the best and right players for the team and position. They choose players not for the present, but for the future.

Not just in drafting, the Steelers also focus on player development. When players join the team, they are properly groomed by senior or experienced players on the team. The management makes all the arrangements for players and offers them various opportunities to success. We must say that the way they treat the players and develop their skills, players don't hesitate to give their best for the team.
