The ‘70s: The era of the ‘Steel Curtain’ defense, of Terry Bradshaw and Franco Harris, when the Steelers were formed and became an entity in the NFL and something people loved. Yes, it was a passion but with time, support, growth and development, it became a national and even an international affair.

The Relationship Between Sports Betting and Being a Steelers Fan

Being waved by thousands of fans during the course of every game, this yellow towel of the team beaks pride, unity and spirit of supporting the team. The Terrible Towel was handed down from one generation to the next and it is now considered as one of the symbols of the Steelers.

Tailgating Traditions

Every game day, especially that of the Steelers is never complete without some form of tailgating. Folks begin waiting for Heinz Field, the present Acrisure Stadium hours before a game to eat and drink and to have a good time. People are energetic, and everyone is wearing black and gold, there are people grilling and they are discussing earlier games. It is not only a chant that is performed before a game, but it is a ceremony that Cement the fans and makes them belong to the Steelers Nation.

Global Reach

Although the base of the Steelers Nation is located in Pittsburgh, its supporters can be met all over the area. To this fact, it can be said that Steelers fans are as numerous as they are situated in different parts of the United States and the entire world. This is because of the great accomplishments and the good brand of the team and therefore, the team has many followers of all ages and from all areas. The Steelers fans are also scattered all over the world and to help them find other fans and watch the games there are Steelers bars and fan clubs.

Generations of Loyalty

One of the greatest things about being a member of Steelers Nation is that the fans of the team are of all ages. Steeler fans are a diehard bunch in Pittsburgh and throughout this region and it is often a family affair and it starts at a very young age. Parents take their children to the games, inform them about the team and its history and in this way, foster the children to support the black and gold. This has to do with the fact that Steelers Nation is a generationally dedicated fan base and each generation that comes after the previous one is as fanatical as the previous one.

Rivalries and Respect

The Steelers fans are very aggressive and very much hated for all other teams especially the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns. Such clashes are marked by a keen fight on the pitch together with the supporters of the two teams in contention. But the Steelers fans are also known to be the fans who do not only respect the game and the opponents. Even though the rivalry is strong, it is quite polite and friendly – that is, if the two teams are not the best of friends. This is very much the kind of balance that one would expect from Steeler Nation and is perhaps one reason why the supporters are considered to be some of the most loyal and courteous in the league.
