While the news hasn't been officially announced by the team, the Steelers are expected to hire former South Carolina assistant Bryan McClendon.

McClendon, 36, will replace Ray Sherman who filled in last season when Darryl Drake tragically passed away during training camp.

McClendon spent one season in the NFL with the Bears before going to work for the University of Georgia. While at Georgia he worked his way up from graduate assistant to wide receiver coach. McClendon served as the interim head coach in 2015 leading the Bulldogs to a win in the TaxSlayer.com Bowl.

He left Georgia and headed to South Carolina in 2016 where he coached several NFL players and helped with the development of standout rookie WRDebo Samuel.

McClendon joins a young wide receiver room that will need the leadership and experience that McClendon will bring to the team.
