Mike Hilton Waits On An Answer From The Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ off-season workouts are in full swing and cornerback, Mike Hilton is participating in all of them. Although taking part in the workouts, Hilton is still hoping to sign a contract for the 2019 season.

ESPN.com’s Jeremy Fowler, reported earlier in the off-season that Hilton wouldn’t sign the $645,000 tender. With that decision, Hilton had the option to either not play for any other team, or convince the Steelers to give him more than the tender extension. Hilton chose the third option and isn’t skipping the workouts to persuade the team more.

Hilton sticks to what he knows and practices in the slot corner. He’s played more than half of the team’s defensive snaps over the last two seasons. Hilton has also told the media that he’s letting his agent do the negotiating while he focuses on his performance on the field.

“I’ve got to just find ways to fight through the hands against wideouts and be more aggressive when the ball comes around and try to make plays on the ball,” Hilton said. “Get some more turnovers [because] that’s something we as a whole could use on the defensive end.”

Hilton is looking to take after Steelers’ left tackle Alejandro Villanueva after receiving a new deal in 2017 after practicing with the team during the off-season. Mike Hilton’s future should be apparent in the coming weeks.
