Rooney – Not Interested In Trading Bryant

Martavis Bryant has found his way into the spot light over the last five days, but not because he did a lot to help the Steelers beat Kansas City. Instead it was reported by Ian Rapoport of NFLNetwork that Bryant had requested a trade due to his playing time and role in the offense.

Bryant spoke out quickly once the Steelers team charter landed back in Pittsburgh.

While he didn’t flat out deny the request, he said he was happy. As the week continued Rapoport doubled down on on his report and said that he had seen emails to the Steelers front office that requested a trade. The catch was that they weren’t from Bryant directly, but his agent instead.

“We’re not looking to trade Martavis,” Art Rooney II told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “He was out of football for a year. Maybe some of us had higher expectations how quickly he could get back up to full speed, but he’s making progress.”

Consistent with everything we’ve heard all week, Rooney again reiterated the Steelers stance.
