Now an interesting situation has come about that would include the Steelers using the transition tag on Bell after the 2018 season. The transition tag would cost the Steelers 120% of what Bell makes in 2018. Since he's currently making nothing that price would be significantly less than if he was franchised for a third season.
Now if Pittsburgh decides to use its transition tag on Le’Veon Bell after this season, it would cost $11.3 million - less than the franchise tag put on him for this year. https://t.co/RvSL0cA2TB

The Steelers will likely file for a roster exemption that would give them two weeks to get Bell back into game shape and allow them to keep him inactive without pay if they choose to do so.
