According to a source close with Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell, the kicker is dealing with a grade one labral tear of the hip.
A hip labral tear is an injury to the labrum, the soft tissue that covers the acetabulum (socket) of the hip according to the Mayo Clinic.
It's unclear whether it's an anterior or posterior tear, but the fact that it's a grade one tear is positive.
Definition of a grade one tear:
Grade 1: Mild damage to individual muscle fibers (less than 5% of fibers) that causes minimal loss of strength and motion.
Boswell could return to the lineup as early as next week.
