Steelers Add Safety Depth in Trade With Bucs

The Steelers aquired safety J.J Wilcox from the Tampa Bay Bucanneers today. The Bucs will send Wilcox and a 7th round draft pick in 2019 to the Steelers for their 6th round pick in 2018.

Wilcox signed as a free agent with the Bucs this offseason from Dallas.

The Steelers just aquired their 6th round pick back from the Browns yesterday in a trade involving Sammie Coates.

Tampa signed TJ Ward last night making Wilcox expendable. The Steelers are suddenly very thin at the safety position with Mike Mitchell and backup Jordan Dangerfield both injured.

Mitchell hasn't practiced since the beginning of training camp, but said he expects to play Sunday in Cleveland. We will know more after Coach Tomlin's press conference on Tuesday.
