LIVE: Tracking Steelers Roster Cuts Ahead Of Official 53-Man Roster On Tuesday

After the Pittsburgh Steelers finished their preseason with a win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, it’s now time to look ahead to the final 53-man roster. Teams must have their rosters down to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon, so cuts have already begun on Monday. Below, you will find updates on the latest cuts in Pittsburgh:

Justin Layne, Cornerback

Anthony McFarland Jr., Running Back has now officially announced the release of the following players:

On the defensive side of the ball the team released defensive backs Elijah Riley, Chris Steele, and Linden Stephens; linebackers Ron’Dell Carter, Buddy Johnson, Hamilcar Rashed, Delontae Scott, and James Vaughters; and defensive linemen Carlos Davis, Khalil Davis, Donovan Jeter, and Henry Mondeaux.

On offense, the team released offensive linemen William Dunkle, Adrian Ealy, Chaz Green, John Leglue, and Ryan McCollum, running back Max Borghi; tight ends Kevin Rader and Jace Sternberger; and receivers Tyler Snead, Tyler Vaughns and Cody White.

The team also acquired linebacker Malik Reed via trade. Read MORE HERE

John Leglue, Offensive Lineman

No surprises so far. Sternberger, a very talented TE, failed to elevate himself ahead of Kevin Rader and Connor Heyward for the third tight end spot. Carter wasn’t all that impressive in his short stint with the team. The same can be said for Stephens, as all three of these guys were expected as obvious cuts

Credit to my dad, I have been a lifelong Steelers fan. I have fond memories of watching the Steelers win two Super Bowls when I was a little kid. I have only been to 1 Steelers game in my life, which was in Kansas City. That was the notorious game where Antonio Brown pinned it against his chest down the sidelines for a touchdown. I hope to get to Heinz Field some day! I graduated from Iowa State University and look forward to growing as a writer with #SteelerNation!
