Friday morning, Pittsburgh Steelers' stars, T.J. Watt and James Conner spoke to the media addressing some hot topics prior to this Sunday's rivalry matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
When asked about the defense forcing more turnovers, Watt expressed how he feels that the defense is already in a good place.
"I think we just can't really press ourselves to change the way we're playing. We feel very good about the way that we're playing and we know that a lot of those turnovers and splash plays come in bunches. And you don't want to change up and mess up when you're doing something good. And we're doing a lot of things good."
When asked about his thoughts on Baltimore and 2019 NFL MVP quarterback, Lamar Jackson, Watt reiterated his confidence in what the Steelers have in store come Sunday.
"I just think they're an explosive offense. Last time we played them, it was RGIII, so this time it'll be Lamar again and being able to play up there (in Baltimore). You just see an explosive offense: they have 89, a great tight end, 15 on the outside, then you have 21 in the backfield as well. So they have a lot of really quality weapons. The offensive line is obviously well too. So I just think we're going to have to play extremely assignment sound football. That's going to be the biggest key this weekend." Watt later concluded, "I feel very confident in our plan."
As for running back, James Conner, Steeler Nation has been well pleased with his availability to the team this season, despite his past injury history. Conner explained how he's been better taking care of his body in 2020.
"Something of every thing. I'm just trying to do all the basics. Day in and day out. When I'm here at the facility getting treatment, doing things outside, nutrition. I'm just trying to have all areas of my game to be on point so I can just continue to be healthy this year and contribute to this team."
On comments from fans and reporters about his "desperation" running style, Conner confirmed to everyone his intentions as this team's featured back.
"I always try and run hard. I'm just trying to play physical, play fast, and just play free. That's when I'm at my best." Conner continued, "I'm just trying to play big."
With these being two of the top players for this franchise, their focus and performance will go a long way towards a victory come Sunday.
