With the announcements this week that most major sports are suspending their seasons, all eyes have been on the NFL to see what they would do. Well, the NFL announced Thursday that while they don't have any plans to delay the start of the regular season due to the Coronavirus, they are taking steps now in accordance with CDC guidelines for social distancing. They have canceled their annual meeting that was scheduled for later this month in Florida. The statement said "full consideration and votes on any open football issues, including playing rules, bylaws and resolutions, as well as other business matters," will be handled at their meeting in California in May.
They also canceled the HBCU Combine that was to take place at the end of March in Miami.
Many teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers have restricted travel for both coaches and scouts due to concerns over spreading the virus. To date, the Philadelphia Eagles are the only team to close their field and training facility. It seems it will be only a matter of time until more teams do the same.
