The Pittsburgh Steelers have a decision to make, as tight end Vance McDonald is scheduled to make up to $6.4 million during the 2020 season if they decide to pick up his option (which they have to decide upon by March 18th). One of many people who do not expect McDonald back in Pittsburgh (at least not at his current salary), is Jason La Canfora, a CBS Sports Insider, which he told 93.7 The Fan.

Recently, Pittsburgh Steelers GM Kevin Colbert has hinted that McDonald is in their plans for this upcoming season, but it is no secret that they are short on cash like usual. Earlier this off-season, I predicted McDonald had a low chance on being on the roster for the 2020 season, almost exclusively due to his salary. That chance changes significantly if the Steelers can reduce his cap hit for this upcoming season.

Something that would make sense for both sides would be a new two/three-year deal that would lower McDonald's cap hit this season, as well as give McDonald more security long-term. The Steelers can likely save close to $3 million in cap space in 2020 with a short extension/new contract, and that would go a long way in keeping McDonald in the Steelers plans.

Let us know if you think Vance McDonald will be with the Pittsburgh Steelers next season!
