1. RB Jonathan Taylor - Wisconsin: Taylor may be gone by the time the Steelers are on the clock in round 2. However, Georgia RB Deandre Swift will likely get the lion-share of hype heading into draft day. Taylor averaged 6.3 yards per carry and 21 rushing touchdowns in 2019 while adding another 5 receiving touchdowns on 25 catches. He would be a great 1-2 punch with Conner. Adding a RB of this fortitude could help limit Conner’s workload and keep him healthy for the entirety of the season.
2. RB JK Dobbins - Ohio State: Dobbins is without a doubt in range of where the Steelers will be selecting. Swift, Taylor and Utah RB Zach Moss will likely all go ahead of him according to recent draft projections. Dobbins is another guy who could effectively carry a large workload and help keep Conner healthy. Dobbins averaged 6.7 yards per carry with 21 touchdowns and 2,003 yards rushing. Dobbins durability questions are what will keep teams hesitant to take him, but after showing such great durability this past season there is no reason to suggest the Steelers should pass on this selection.
3. TE Albert Okwuegbunam - Missouri: Albert in all likelihood will be available come the Steelers 2nd and 3rd round picks barring a fantastic showing at the scouting combine. Due to a lackluster pass game in college, he was limited to 26 receptions and only 306 yards with 6 touchdowns. Think of Okwuegunam as a much more athletic Jesse James. He is 6’5” and 260 pounds, but is said to run a 4.6 40-yard dash. This is right on par with Gronkowski measurables. As a third round pick, Albert could be the steal of the draft and fill the gap left by Heath Miller years ago.
