Each and every game has a pivotal moment where victory is decided. Not always the game winning play, but a play that determines the outcome, and if it went differently, a different result could be likely. So each week we will explore the exact moment of drama where the game pivots on: As the Game Turns.
After coming out of halftime with a 13-10 lead the Steelers showed they can actually score in the second half and capped off a 12 play 7 minute drive to Antonio Brown for a 9 yard score. Still a 10 point game as the Steelers kicked off to Atlanta.
This was do or die time for the Falcons. On the road, they needed an answer to the Steelers clock killing drive. What happened was a one yard run and two incomplete passes for a quick three and out. As they lined up to punt, the game turned rosy for the Steelers. Roosevelt Nix beat his man, and pushed through his arm-bar all the way back to the punter to get both hands on the football just as the ball made contact with the his foot. Perfect execution, and instead of a long field the Steelers recovered the football on the 18 yard line.
One minute and 3 short plays later, James Conner was running to the pylon to score a TD and put the game out of reach, with a 27-10 lead. Special teams had the special moment this week to give the Steelers their biggest win of the season, all thanks to Rosie Nix.
