Pittsburgh Steelers unrestricted free agent, B.J. Finney sat down with Steelers reporter, Missi Matthews about upcoming free agency.

“We truly embodied Coach Tomlin’s ‘next man up’ mentality with the amount of injuries we had to go through and the amount of guys who saw playing time,” Finney said.

“We never quit and we fought to relevancy of getting into the playoffs. So I was extremely happy that we did that.”

Finney also expressed how hard it is thinking about the 2020 season. Not knowing if he'll be back in Pittsburgh or playing in a different city.

“Being a childhood fan of this franchise and then getting an opportunity to play for them, you can’t saw anything bitter about it. It’s just sweet.”

Finney didn't hide his passion for Pittsburgh. It's pretty clear where he wants to be.

“Absolutely we’d love to stay,” he said.

“My wife and I love it here. The amount of people we’ve got to meet, the city. We love the city, and the people in the organization, we just really love it.”

Finney also expressed his thanks to former and current coaches and teammates for the help in learning the importance of his role with the team.

“You’ve got to be ready at the drop of a hat. I don’t know anything else. That’s just been my job and to embody it just to make sure we don’t slow the unit down."

"That was my greatest pride point was making sure I wasn’t a hindrance. To be that person to make sure it doesn’t happen is huge for me," he said.

There's no word if Pittsburgh will be able to find the money within the salary cap to give Finney a fair deal, no matter what both sides want.

If he stays with the Steelers, Finney could find himself with a bigger role with the Steelers because of the aging offensive line.

But until both sides can reach a deal, that's just a hypothetical.
