Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back, Cam Sutton has been on an absolute tear over the last three weeks of the 2020 NFL season. He's had 11 total tackles to go along with his three forced fumbles. In his 4th year with the team, he's filled in tremendously for the injured Mike Hilton in the nickel position on defense this season.
Last month, speculation began to rise when Sutton took to social media, giving Steeler Nation a scare when it appeared he was implying that he was leaving the team. When asked about that moment, Sutton was quick to clarify:
"You got life outside of football, you know what I mean. Stuff that don't even pertain to football. It's a pretty simple explanation. I love being here. It had nothing to do with the Steelers organization. Really nothing to be talked about anymore."
Sutton has been excelling in defensive coordinator, Keith Butler's system, and when asked if there was a receiver that has made his life a little more difficult in the middle throughout this season and his career, Sutton noted a player from a division rival:
"A guy like that [Tyler Boyd] who's physical, controls the middle of the field. Look what he's been doing throughout the year. A big target on 3rd down, moving the chains, great possession receiver."
We as fans have been lucky to have a player like Sutton roam our secondary and help this team get to 9-0 this season. He's been able to play both inside, outside, and special teams. Although he's not necessarily considered a "starter" on defense and get the praise like some of these other guys, Sutton left the media with a great "Sutton-like" response:
"What's more special than being versatile?"
More to come.
