With Le’Veon Bell continuing his holdout, second year running back James Conner is making his presence known and standing out for all of the right reasons. Conner has been the biggest standout for the Steelers in OTA’s, and this provides a positive outlook on the running back position for Pittsburgh if Bell unfortunately decides to walk away from the team at some point.
Conner was very solid last season prior to his season-ending MCL injury, but with Le’Veon Bell healthy and capable of doing what he has done in past years, Conner won’t get too many opportunities. Conner averaged 4.2 yards on 32 carries last season, so we know that Conner can run the ball when he gets it.
Given his OTA success and successful recovery, Conner may be earning some more opportunities in the regular season. He definitely deserves them, as his road to the NFL had not been an easy one and he has proven he can make a positive impact on the team.
