PITTSBURGH, PA – More coaching changes were announced Friday for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they hired former Cincinnati Bengals' defensive coordinator Teryl Austin in a new "senior defensive assistant/secondary" role.
Austin was a defensive backs/secondary coach with the Seattle Seahawks (2003-2006), the Arizona Cardinals (2007-2009), and the Baltimore Ravens (2011-2013). Austin became the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions in 2014 before becoming the Cincinnati Bengals' defensive coordinator in 2018.
Austin played for the University of Pittsburgh from 1983-1987 and is originally from Sharon, PA. He'll look to help bolster a defense that actually finished 6th overall in the NFL in total defense this past regular season.
More details ahead.
