Troy Polamalu will forever be my favorite player. Not just for his undeniable brilliance on the field, but for the man he is off of it as well.
Monday, the former Pittsburgh Steelers safety and his wife Theodora, were able to provide gift cards to over 400 furloughed workers in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. The gift cards are to local restaurants and have been a huge morale boost. Westmoreland County commissioner Gina Cerilli was originally contacted a few weeks prior by an undisclosed party who informed her that Troy and his wife heard about the furloughed workers and wanted to help.
"We’re very appreciative for the Polamalus for stepping up and being able to put a dinner on their tables.” - Gina Cerilli via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Photo from TribLIVE.com.
Troy is a two-time Super Bowl Champion and was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this year. He and his family have been great examples of service through these challenging times and look to continue to set the standard.
Thank you, Troy! More to come.
