According to the transaction log on NFL.com, the Pittsburgh Steelers reached an injury settlement with Antoine Brooks Jr. Brooks was injured in the Hall of Fame game against the Dallas Cowboys and was let go with a waived/injured designation during the first round of cuts. Brooks cleared waivers and reverted back to the Steelers injured reserve list.
Now it wasn't believed that Brooks injury was season ending, and with the Steelers reaching an injury settlement with him prior to Tuesday's 4pm deadline, it could allow Brooks to return to the team in a few weeks. League rules state that Brooks can't return to the Steelers for at least three weeks following his injury settlement. After that, if he's healthy, he would be free to be signed back.

Brooks was penciled into the starting nickel cornerback spot ahead of camp, but his injury in the first preseason game ended that opportunity. The potential is there for Brooks to fill that role down the road for the Steelers if they aren't able to add a veteran in the next few days. At the very least, he should find his way back onto the Steelers practice squad at some point this season if he doesn't draw interest from another team.
