In an amazing article on Steelers.com earlier this week by journalist, Teresa Varley, Varley so eloquently reiterated how there is a special type of respect you earn when you're recognized by the legends who donned the black and gold before you. When guys like "Mean" Joe Greene and Mel Blount, who dominated the league all throughout the 1970's, speak highly of you, that's when you know the approval is valid.
Varley spoke on how the most recent Steeler to be showered with these types of praises has been none other than outside linebacker and All-Pro, TJ Watt.
As yinz know, Watt is coming off of a career season, and is poised to take home the AP Defensive Player of the Year Award on Thursday night. Not that the NFL needs anymore convincing on Watt's behalf, but it's always nice when these legends also speak this highly of you:
The ultimate approval

Watt will be entering his sixth season in the NFL in 2022 and has already made the Pro Bowl four times, and has been named a First Team All-Pro three times. He knows this is still just the beginning for him, but as Varley mentioned in her article, Watt is honored to be applauded by the greats:
"That truly is the ultimate compliment," said Watt. "That's why I feel like it's so important that every player here truly understands the tradition of this organization, what it means to be the Pittsburgh Steelers, to have the greats, the absolute legends of not only this organization but the National Football League, saying you can play with them really is special. It's really, really special."
