Pittsburgh Steelers fans have been showing their frustration over the past few weeks after the team's offense has looked subpar to expectations. Most of the blame has fallen on Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada. There were even chants during their Week 2 victory over the Cleveland Browns wanting him fired. But he should not take all the blame because as a collective group, they have just looked awful through the first two weeks of the 2023 regular season. They need to make some big-time adjustments to secure the victory this week against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Steelers Offense Has Struggled
Quarterback Kenny Pickett has not looked his best either throwing for 454 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. This is a mixture of the high school level play-calling and that the offensive line has not lived up to expectations as well. The poor play isn't just in passing. Rushing the ball, the entire offense has a total of 96 rushing yards and not a single touchdown. The Steelers offense has struggled so much that their defense currently has as many touchdowns as them.
It is not just the fans who have become concerned with this offense. It seems that all of the NFL media have realized the problem that is going on in Pittsburgh. Former NFL quarterback, Chris Simms went on his show, Unbuttoned, and has gone as far as to say that this Steelers offense is one of the worst in the NFL.
"The Steelers arguably have one of the worst offenses in football right now. It is a f****** miracle that they won the other night."
Simms would then go on to discredit the Steelers' Week 2 win. He would also comment on the hit that Minkah Fitzpatrick made on Nick Chubb, calling it a "cheap shot." In reality that was just a football play that Fitzpatrick made going for a tackle.
"They had to break the best running back in football's legs, with kind of a borderline cheap shot in my opinion, and then Deshaun Watson was horrible at everything."
Although the offense has struggled, there is still hope to be found this season. George Pickens still looks like a freak out there playing and has the potential to be a top-five wide receiver in the league. The Steelers' first-round pick that they traded up to get in Broderick Jones has yet to start for them and should hopefully be their starter very soon. It is not time to hit the panic button just yet.

The Steelers offense may have looked rough in Week 2, but at least the defense came to play. The game started with a pick-six from Alex Highsmith, then he would force a fumble that would be picked up by TJ Watt for the team's second defensive touchdown later in the fourth quarter. Although they gave probably the best defensive display in the entire NFL, Simms doesn't think that they are anything special.
"I don't think this Steelers defense is special. It's good, but I don't think it is special."
Although he may not think it is special, it did enough to practically carry this team to a victory against the Browns. They will need another big-time performance if they want to secure the victory again this week.

Defense, offense, even special teams, it doesn't matter, the game will rely on the hands of one man. If the Steelers want to be successful this week, the next week, and in the playoffs, Head Coach Mike Tomlin will need to take command and lead them where they want to be at. He has always said that the "standard is the standard." Well it is time that they start playing like that. The potential of this team is still there and a chance at a deep playoff run is still in play.
