It looks like the Pittsburgh Steelers will again be without wide receiver, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and running back, James Conner, since they were ruled OUT and DOUBTFUL respectively for this week’s game.
Cornerback, Artie Burns, though ruled QUESTIONABLE, had steady improvement all week going from not practicing, to limited, to fully practicing in this week’s practice participation.
Starting offensive left tackle, Alejandro Villanueva was the only other player on the injury report this week. He was limited on Wednesday, but practiced fully the rest of the week and was not given an injury designation.
I track and try to predict timelines for Steeler players returning to the field. This is a link to our current spreadsheet. It will update on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday after the practice reports are issued, as well as Post-Game and Tuesday after Coach Tomlin's press conferences. I believe the inactive players will be:
- Paxton Lynch: 3rd QB Inactive
- JuJu Smith-Schuster: Listed as OUT and won’t play
- James Conner: Listed as DOUBTFUL and probably won’t play
- Zach Gentry: Being "redshirted." He shouldn’t be active
- Chukwuma Okorafor: The Steelers usually rest him and this is an instance where he should be a healthy scratch again
- Tuzar Skipper: He hasn’t been on the team long and was inactive last week
- Justin Layne: With Artie Burns on the mend, Layne may be the one sitting out on Sunday
