Actively Predicting the Inactive List: Week 2

By G.Stryker

The Pittsburgh Steelers were not only beaten on the field last week, but also beaten up on the roster.  TJ Watt, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Terrell Edmunds all were limited on Wednesday, but practiced fully on Thursday and Friday, and fortunately are not listed on the injury report, so they all should play.

Sean Davis didn’t play week 1 and his practice schedule mirrored the three players above and is ready for his first start this week.

Maurkice Pouncey and Joe Haden practiced fully on Friday after not practicing all week.  They are both listed as questionable for the game, but both are 10 year veterans, so neither need a whole lot of prep to be ready for the game.  Since both practiced fully, I expect both to play on Sunday.

Roosevelt Nix was the only player injured last week that did not practice at all this week.  He is officially listed as out with his knee injury

I track and try to predict timelines for Steeler players returning to the field. This is a link to our current spreadsheet. It will update on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday after the practice reports are issued, as well as Post-Game and Tuesday after Coach Tomlin’s press conferences. Bookmark it to see how the health of the Steelers are shaping up each week.  Injury/Fine/Inactive/Roster Tracker

This week I believe the inactive players will be:

  1. Roosevelt Nix: Listed as out, so will not play
  2. Fred Johnson: Steelers like to dress 7 linemen when the team is healthy
  3. Chukwuma Okorafor: Zach Banner dressed instead of Chukes last week, so I will go with the trend and predict the same to happen this week.
  4. Jay Elliot: The Steelers are carrying 10 LBs, someone has to sit, and it should be the guy with the least amount of team experience with this group.
  5. Zach Gentry: The swing tackle is a better blocker and he doesn’t play much on special teams.
  6. Isiah Buggs:
  7. Justin Layne: is also a choice, and since Joe Haden should return this week, a corner must sit.
