Actively Predicting the Inactive List: Week 5

By: G.Stryker

Good news: Mike Hilton will be back this week.  He’s running around with a brace on his elbow, and it will hopefully be a shot in the arm for the Steelers defense to make some positive plays this week.  Bad News: Nat Burhe was lost for the year after tearing his pectoral muscle in the game and being placed on injured reserve.

Marcus Gilbert and Chris Boswell had scares in practice this week, but both appear to be minor, since both practiced fully on Friday.  I expect both of them to play on Sunday

Morgan Burnett’s hamstring is still a problem, and there appears to be no end in sight. Vince Williams and Darrius Heyward-Bey didn’t practice all week, so I don’t expect either of them to suit up this week.

I track and try to predict timelines for returning to the field, for all Steeler players. This is a link to our current spreadsheet. It will get updated on Wed, Thu, and Fri after the practice reports are issued. Bookmark it to see how the health of the Steelers is shaping up each week.

I believe the inactive players will be:

  1. Mason Rudolph: Healthy Scratch/ 3rd QB
  2. Morgan Burnett: Doubtful so he probably won’t play
  3. Darrius Heyward Bey: Doubtful so he probably won’t play
  4. Vince Williams: Doubtful so he probably won’t play
  5. LT Walton: Seems to be the choice to be inactive when the D line is healthy
  6. Zach Banner: He sat last week and probably will again this week.
  7. Brian Allen: He was called up due to placing Nat Burhe on IR.  I still think he’s a week away from contributing and Marcus Allen will play.

After getting 6/7 correct last week, my predictions are 24/28 on the year.
