Mike Florio has made a career out of infuriating fans with his garbage on www.profootballtalk.com. His “journalism” journey began with a lot of takes based on “sources” and has progressed to a bunch of clickbait for revenue.
Watch this take which you can choose to view (just in case you actually enjoy the feeling of nausea):
Florio goes on a rant about Eric Ebron, first taking a dig at his dropped pass which he erroneously implies that Ebron has had issues all year long rather than a single play before leading into a narrative that attempts to invoke an eye-opening revelation.
In short, Ebron voiced his frustration about having to play three games in 12 days. Florio correctly stated that each year every team plays a 3-game in 12-days stretch and then doubled down, twice mentioning how they “ran the numbers twice” as if to ensure its integrity.
Sorry Mike, but I’ve done enough projects involving numbers and data to know that does not fly. A single set of data means nothing without something to compare it against.
Despite the smugness you had with illustrating your “insight”, you also completely left out the other side of the equation: the 10-day extended week off without a game. This effectively can be an additional/partial “bye” week to a team. You only further undermined what meager credibility you thought you had by neglecting to mention that the initial week the “3-games/12-days” stretch is a normal week.
Maybe the next time you run this simple set of numbers twice, you attempt to comprehend how much of an idiot it makes you look like by presenting an argument so inherently flawed.
Then again, maybe this is why you’ve been on a website talking football rumors instead of practicing law, because you absolutely suck at presenting a case.
Already having lost a bye week resulting from another organization's issues, the Steelers were informed on the day before their game (around 4:00 pm EST) that it was postponed. And that was just for the first postponement, it would be postponed again. Instead of having a known element of preparation and rest, the Steelers dealt with a 7-day period of consistent unknowns of when and if they were going to be called to play.
In the end, the Steelers not only had their worst performance of the year, but they also lost two starters (Steven Nelson and Bud Dupree) to injury. Dupree’s injury is an ACL tear that put him out for the season on a contract season – and that was the primary point Ebron was attempting to convey.
It’s notable, but not surprising, that Florio wouldn’t acknowledge Eric Ebron had a valid point as these injuries did happen. Instead, he conveniently forgot like the weakling little weasel he is.
Ironic, Florio began his rant with comments about Ebron’s hands and it was Florio dropping the ball while sticking his foot in his mouth.
