The Pittsburgh Steelers recently put out a video giving an inside look to their virtual off-season. “If you’re not speaking, put your mic on mute.” Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin expressed to start the meeting. This is something that has become the “norm” in the business world when conducting virtual meetings and I couldn’t help but laugh when hearing coach Tomlin repeat this sentiment.

The video highlights offensive lineman, Zach Banner, tight-end Eric Ebron, and cornerback Steven Nelson, giving a peek how these three are adjusting and staying sane with the circumstances we are enduring. "Adjustments are a big part of success in our business," Tomlin says and that is just what the players are doing. In regards to nutrition, Banner has taken that challenge head on during quarantine; making sure he has the right snacks before workouts, and getting the necessary protein in post-workout. Also, realizing that "sugars are real" when he gets the occasional cheat day in. Nelson has been forced to get creative with his workouts. With his gym being closed, he had to do "silly" workouts his trainer came up with until gyms reopened. Ebron was forced to open his wallet and spend more on himself than any off-season prior. With limited access to facilities, he invested in himself to make sure he is able to bounce back after an ankle injury brought an end to his 2019 season.

While making sure their physical abilities have stayed in tact, they have been able to clear their heads during quarantine. You can catch Banner playing FIFA, preparing for the next iteration to come out. While he was a top 500 ranked player in FIFA19, he stated he is no longer ranked as high and wants to return to form when FIFA21 hits shelves. Nelson decided to go therapeutic and do a lot of fishing, which was instilled by his father at a young age. He says it is a good way to clear his head and put everything in perspective. Ebron is challenging himself playing the game of golf. "If I could professionally play golf, I would, I love it. It is so challenging," Ebron says with a smile. Not to worry Steeler Nation, he won't be leaving the gridiron anytime soon as he believes it will help him on the field. I suggest all of Steeler Nation to take the time out of their day and watch the video.

Videos like these are always a joy to see. Players are just like us and are dealing with the similar struggles we are during this time. We all have to adjust and we all have to get away and clear our heads.
