Mike Hilton Signs Exclusive Rights Free Agent Tender

By Jacob Jensen

Thursday, Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Mike Hilton signed his one-year exclusive rights tender. This means he will become a free agent at the end of the 2019 season.

“I signed my exclusive rights, I wanted to show the team I am here,” Hilton said. When asked about a long term deal, Hilton said there has been talks, but nothing specific yet. Hilton also had this to say “I am trying to show all of the sides I want to be here long term. I am focused on being here and helping this team win. Hopefully it will all work out in the end.”
“This is a team that gave me a true shot since coming in undrafted. I feel like my last two years I have been producing well. I Just want to be around and keep playing,” Hilton said.

Hilton was also excited to learn his coach Mike Tomlin signed an extension earlier Thursday morning.

“Having a guy like Coach T for another year is a great thing. He is a guy who gets us going every Sunday.”
Hilton went on to say, “He is a players coach. He is really in tune with his guys. He loves talking to us, not just about football, about everything. He shows the enthusiasm and energy.”

Mike Hilton is going into his fourth year in the NFL. His first chance came back in 2017. He then recorded 64 tackles, 4 sacks and 2 INT’s. In 2018 he recorded 57 tackles, 1 sack and 1 INT.

Hilton has continued to show a desire to be with the Steelers for a long time. Hilton is a guy that has a “team first” mentality, and has shown that he will do anything to help the team win. He has been a true team player his whole career as a Steeler and we at SteelerNation.com really hope the team and Hilton can agree to a long-term deal.
