With Ryan Shazier still hospitalized, the Steelers have placed him on injured reserve officially ending his season. Last week Shazier had surgery on his spine to stabilize it as he continues to recover from his injury against the Bengals.
"Unfortunately Ryan will not be able to contribute on the field during the remainder of this season," said Steelers President Art Rooney II. "However, even off the field Ryan will continue to be one of our team leaders. We know his spirit and positive outlook will help him to continue in his recovery, as well as serve as an inspiration to our team."
JuJu Smith-Schuster has been added back to the active roster from the suspended list in a corresponding move.
