The Steelers let go of RB Coach James Saxon last week without much explanation. Saxon coached Le'Veon Bell, and James Conner to the Pro Bowl, but declining overall numbers might have contributed his departure.
"Sometimes it's time for a change. Coach Sax did a good job over the last few years, but his contract was up and Coach Tomlin felt like it was time for a change there," Art Rooney II told a group or reporters today.
Saxon quickly latched on in Arizona (where all Steelers players and Coaches go when they leave town.) as a member of rookie coach Kliff Kingsbury's staff.
Of course, Eddie Faulkner coached Jaylen Samuels at NC State. Perhaps Mike Tomlin and #Steelers brass liked what they saw while scouting Samuels. https://t.co/hpEc5p9UaE

The Steelers reportedly found Saxons replacement today in NC State FB and TE Coach Eddie Faulkner. Faulkner was part of the recruitment process of RB Jaylen Samuels in college, and then was his position coach.
Faulkner started coaching back in 2002 at Anderson University, and has worked at Northern Illinois, Ball State, and most recently Wisconsin as a tight ends coach before going to NC State.
