Despite a rough offensive start for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the course of the last two weeks, they still sit atop of the AFC North division at 1-1 as they prepare for the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football during a short week. They were only able to muster up 14 points on Sunday against the New England Patriots, along with an underwhelming 243 total yards. Quarterback, Mitch Trubisky, thinks there’s room for improvement starting with involving a certain rookie wide receiver more on offense moving forward.
Trubisky met with the media following Pittsburgh’s home opening loss to the Patriots and was asked if George Pickens was a suggested option that should be investigated more moving forward:
“We got a lot of talent; definitely getting George more involved. We just gotta get on the same page. I think there was one where I threw out of bounds and he was going one way, and I thought he was gonna go another way,” Trubisky said. “We gotta get George involved, he’s super talented.”
Pickens only had 1 catch for 23 yards on Sunday, and was only targeted three times. This brings his total to two receptions for 26 yards on the young season, only being targeted six times after having a phenomenal training camp and preseason.

Trubisky elaborated about getting the ball to his playmakers to help push this black and gold offense the rest of the season:
“When everybody gets their touches and we’re moving the ball down the field, that’s when it feels good. But when you miss opportunities, that’s when you have a feeling like this [a loss], and you just don’t want to feel that again. So we gotta get corrections, everybody has gotta pull together, and we gotta get better this week, and look for a quick turnaround.”
Being at the game Sunday, you could tell Steeler Nation began to grow impatient with the team’s offense at Acrisure Stadium. Chants of “Kenny [Pickett]” sputtered throughout the second half in the stands, and one must figure that Trubisky and offensive coordinator, Matt Canada need to get on the same page sooner rather than later. That could start with getting the second round draft pick from Georgia more involved and taking advantage of some one on one matchups featuring the former Bulldog standout.
