Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Diontae Johnson was not the biggest receiver in the 2019 draft nor was he the most highly regarded, but one position the Steelers organization always seems to scout well are wide receivers. Johnson could be an incredible talent in the league and may even make his way up the depth chart quicker than expected.

The Steelers have their clear-cut number one receiver in JuJu Smith-Schuster and some help from Donte Moncrief and James Washington, but Johnson could stake his claim as the number two if he plays the way he did in college. In his sophomore season Johnson caught 73 balls for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdown grabs, while averaging 17.3 yards per catch. Johnson's big play ability will fit in well amongst Pittsburgh's other stars on offense, but he'll need to make a statement leading up to the season to unleash his potential.

Johnson has been praised for his breakaway speed, open-field dynamics, and excellent route running. All of the pieces are there for Johnson to make a major splash for Pittsburgh this season and he could be a big contributor in the Steelers' pass-heavy offense. Much like Smith-Schuster was two years ago, Johnson could prove to be a steal for Pittsburgh and showcase his unique skill-set on a professional level.
