Over the last week, the annual NFL Top 100 rankings for 2021 have been announced, and today the top 10 are being revealed. Coming in at number 9 is Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher, TJ Watt:

Watt had another fantastic year for the team last season. He led the NFL in sacks with 15, to go along with 2 forced fumbles, 7 passes defended, 53 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 41 QB hits, and an interception. He earned his third straight Pro Bowl selection and second straight First Team All-Pro selection. He was also the runner up in Defensive Player of the Year voting, which many players feel he should have earned.
Watt has continued to get better year after year, and this ranking reflects it, as he jumped 16 spots from his ranking last year at 25. If you ask Watt about any of this, his answer would most likely be it doesn’t matter, cause the team didn’t win the Super Bowl. That’s just the mentality he has and the player he is.
He joins his teammates Cam Heyward and Minkah Fitzpatrick as the only Steelers on the list. Watt will look to continue his dominance this coming season, and is largely expected to be signing what should be the largest contract for a defensive player in NFL history. This should make him a Steeler for the foreseeable future, and will give him a chance to continue climbing up the list and earning respect from his peers as the most explosive and all around complete edge defender in the league.
