Ulysees Gilbert III placed on IR; LB Robert Spillane Promoted

By Brandon J. Wallace

Tuesday was a busy day for the front office of the Pittsburgh Steelers as they were involved in several roster moves.

Back ailments have plagued rookie linebacker Ulysees Gilbert III which has forced him to join the team’s Reserve/Injured list. With a spot now vacant on the 53-man roster, the Steelers promoted linebacker Robert Spillane from the practice squad. Spillane was with the Steelers this past off-season, but was waived before the regular season started. Spillane was previously with the Tennessee Titans in 2018.

Tight end Kevin Rader has also been re-signed to the practice squad along with wide receiver Terry Wright. Wright was previously with the Seattle Seahawks before being wavied. Unfortunately, recently signed running back, Darrin Hall out of the University of Pittsburgh has been released.

More details ahead.
