The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to give updates on how the COVID-19 pandemic is shifting the way games at Heinz Field look this season.
The Steelers told season ticket holders via email that they're still working on creating "a safe environment for players, staff and fans within Heinz Field" for people still opted in for the season.
The email continued to say:
"We have had productive communications this week with public health authorities to discuss the possibility of hosting a limited number of fans at Heinz Field soon."
As of right now, the Steelers say a timeline for a decision on admittance for fans this season has yet to be determined.
"As of today, it has not been determined whether we can host fans for our October home games on Sunday, October 11th and Sunday, October 18th, but we want to alert you that we will contact you by email as soon as we know if fans will be permitted," read the email. "Once a decision is made on whether fans are permitted, we will provide details of the seat selection process that will be available to you."
Social distancing concerns very obviously arise with bringing fans into the stadium. The Steelers said the seating capacity for Heinz Field will be greatly reduced.
The season ticket holders still opted were also told to watch their email for any updates.
They say the team may only be able to give minimal advance notice for people to select their seats if fans are permitted at games.
More to come.
