Minkah Comes Up Big In Dallas

After the heart attack that was Sunday's game, the Pittsburgh Steelers are still undefeated. The Dallas Cowboys gave their best punch, but the Steelers were able to counter, and walk out of AT&T Stadium with their third straight road victory.

The Steelers started slow, and quarterback Garret Gilbert and the Cowboys were in control early on, jumping out to a 13-0 lead in the middle of the second quarter. The Steelers struck back and went into halftime down 13-9, but did not claim the lead until late in the fourth quarter. Steelers quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger was vintage in this one, leading the Steelers back and ultimately driving down the field to take the lead on that late fourth quarter drive, but on the other side of the ball, Minkah Fitzpatrick was an absolute force for the second week in a row.

Last week, He was flying all over the field in Baltimore. He forced a fumble and had the pass break up to seal the game to move to 7-0.

This week, he picked up right where he left off. He made his presence known late in the second quarter, when Cameron Sutton forced a fumble and Fitzpatrick scooped it right up:

This led to Chris Boswell's career high (and franchise record) 59-yard field goal.

In the fourth quarter, with a 19-15 lead, The Cowboys were 3rd and goal. Gilbert dropped back to pass, and the pressure came hot. He let it fly, and Fitzpatrick wound up with it for his 2nd turnover of the day. This led to a field goal drive to bring the Steelers within one, and kept the Cowboys off the board in a crucial moment:

With déjà vu from last week, the game came down to the final play. Gilbert let it go with Bud Dupree bearing down on him. Déjà vu again, Fitzpatrick was there to knock it away. His play has been stellar, and is a huge part of the Steelers success. Especially on this tough three game road trip.

It was another total team effort, but Fitzpatrick's efforts have definitely had a huge hand in the Steelers success. Tight end Eric Ebron even said on his podcast, 17 Weeks, last week he wasn't scared when the Baltimore Ravens had a chance to win the game last week. Ebron called Fitzpatrick, "one of the best safeties in football". He is definitely living up that sentiment with his play as of late. Particularly the last two weeks.

Fitzpatrick now has 2 interceptions, one for a touchdown, a forced fumble, and fumble recovery on the season. He will look to keep adding to those numbers, and retain his status as a First Team All Pro.
