The Pittsburgh Steelers announced they have signed wide receiver DeAndre Thompkins.
Thompkins spent a brief time with the Philadelphia Eagles after going undrafted out of Penn State in 2019. As a Nittany Lion, he caught 83 passes for 1,245 yards and 6 touchdowns in his career. He also added 1 rushing touchdown. Thompkins entered the 2020 XFL Draft and was selected in the 4th round by the DC Defenders. His contract was terminated after the XFL ceased operations earlier this April. He appeared in 4 games for the Defenders, totaling 7 catches, 85 yards, and 1 touchdown. Majority of those numbers came in his XFL debut when he notched 6 catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.
To counter the addition, the Steelers released cornerback Alexander Myres. Myres has been off and on the Steelers practice squad since going undrafted last season.
More to come.
