In the wake of cases rising, panic growing, and mandates expanding, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be exempt from players having to wear masks on the field even though all other athletes and teams across the state of Pennsylvania are now being required to do so.
Team spokesman Burt Lauten said on Wednesday, "We have received guidance from the Governor’s Office that our players are exempt from wearing masks during an NFL game."
Of course, all other team personnel and Heinz Field staff will be required to wear masks inside the stadium along with any fans who attend the games. And nothing will change week-to-week at practices; players will still wear masks for those.
