The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a 38-7 blowout victory over the division rival Cleveland Browns and the task will continue to grow taller this week. This week's matchup will be against the undefeated Tennessee Titans, who were originally scheduled as their Week 4 opponent but due to COVID-19 were rescheduled to Week 6. This matchup will determine who will be the last remaining undefeated team in the AFC and the front runner for the coveted number one playoff seed.
Head Coach Mike Tomlin dove into the injuries for the Steelers and gave an update on Devin Bush's ACL injury stating he will have surgery on Wednesday. Tomlin mentioned Robert Spillane will be the "primary man" tasked with replacing Bush. Other injuries included Derek Watt (hamstring) who will be questionable this week, Mike Hilton (shoulder) will be limited in practice, and David DeCastro (abs) and Diontae Johnson (back) are both scheduled to practice tomorrow. In regards to last week's matchup, Tomlin was pleased they were able to walk away with 0 turnovers offensively versus a defense who has been opportunistic. He said a goal was to stop the run and even though they did that on the stat sheet, the game flow dictated the Browns to play otherwise, so it will be important that they do that this week.
Tomlin immediately dove into running back Derrick Henry stating the Titans run the ball with him repeatedly and they need to be ready for him. Tomlin gushed over his power and ability to impose his will on a defense but did not forget to mention he has "sprinter" speed in the open field. He went on later to say, "This is like Bud Dupree running the football." Highlighting their defense, Tomlin said they have a knack for making the big play when they need it most, giving credit to players like Malcolm Butler at cornerback and Jeffery Simmons on the defensive line.
