It's another day, and another quarterback to talk about. This time it's Las Vegas Raiders starter, Derek Carr. The Raiders are reportedly attempting to sign Carr to an extension, but it's been long believed that the team would like to start fresh.
A recently released mock draft over at Pro Football Focus details a draft in which the Steelers would make a very bold move:
Steelers send: 2022 first-round pick, 2023 first-round pick, 2022 third-round pick
Raiders send: QB Derek Carr
Raiders Dead Money: $0
Steelers Inherited Contract: One year, $19.8M

The Raiders would then in turn use the Steelers 20th selection on Desmond Ridder, the quarterback from Cincinnnai.
The Steelers would essentially be on the hook for Carr's $19.8 million in 2022, but if you're going to give up that much for someone, then you better lock him up long-term. And they would be forced to do that around the same time that trade manifested. That would potentially eat valuable salary cap. That isn't exactly something the Steelers should want to do for such an unknown in Carr. Sometimes he's brilliant, sometimes he struggles, and a lot of the time, he has a nagging injury.
We don't foresee this trade ever coming to light, but just something to keep in the back of your mind.
