The Pittsburgh Steelers finished the season sweep of the Baltimore Ravens yesterday winning 19-14. The performance was best summed up by last night's words of head coach Mike Tomlin, "Us sucking," but now their focus is on the Washington Football Team, who will come into this matchup with an extended period of time off.

Tomlin opened his press conference by highlighting some positives of the game, starting with the efforts of Benny Snell at the end of the game. He also expressed pleasure with James Washington making a huge play down the stretch, as well as mentioning JuJu Smith-Schuster and JC Hassenhauer. He was also pleased with how the defense made an immediate impact in the game given the circumstances of repeated delays. He did say he voiced his displeasure with certain performances in the locker room and that they need a sense of urgency to fix those on the short week but did not dive into the specifics. With Bud Dupree officially out for the rest of the year, Tomlin was questioned about his confidence in Alex Highsmith. He expressed he is as comfortable with him as he was with Robert Spillane or Kevin Dotson, who have had to fill in this season as well. The new injury news out of yesterday's matchup was Steven Nelson will have an MRI on his knee, even though he was able to play the full game. More news on that should come tomorrow.

Tomlin did mention the amount of time Washington has had to prepare but knows "Washington does not care about our problems." When discussing their personnel, "it starts up front for them...they have a bunch of high round draft picks," mentioning Chase Young and the "Alabama guys" in the middle. He said they are very fundamentally sound in the secondary and have a good ability to switch up coverages between man and zone. One advantage Tomlin pointed out is Steelers wide receiver coach Ike Hilliard has familiarity with the Washington wide receiver group as he coached their receivers just a year ago.
