While scouting for talent in week one of the XFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers' scouts most likely witnessed fans of the DC Defenders immediately make a name for themselves as they threw lemons onto the field. Certain fan bases are known for this, such as the Nashville Predators throwing catfish onto the ice, or Buffalo Bills fans throwing snowballs. The incident in DC caused some fans to ponder what the Steelers might throw onto the field, if it ever became a thing. Users from the official Steelers discord have pitched some answers, and some of them were very enticing.

In wins against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints, there was a flock of pigeons on the field throughout the games, causing some of Steeler Nation to want them back, almost like the pigeons were good luck. Discord user fight4fun suggested that the Steelers throw bird seed onto the field to get the supposed "Rally Pigeons" back. That's probably one of the better things you could throw onto the field, considering that it wouldn't be a danger to anyone on the field, as well as the idea being unique.
That also goes well with the fact that certain teams also have some sort of "rally animals," like the rally cat or rally squirrel. Instead of just one animal, the Steelers would end up with an entire flock of rally pigeons. Sure, it doesn't sound exciting or smart, but as long as it gives the home crowd a reason to cheer, whether or not the game gives a reason or not, it can be more energy for the players to feed off of.
Many Steelers fans are still annoyed at the stadium being named Acrisure Stadium. Two users named Jamble and frumpybuffalo suggested that fans could take old insurance forms (that may or may not be from Acrisure), fold them into paper airplanes, and throw them onto the field. Nobody likes dealing with insurance, so this is a fun way to get people to want to get this done, as well as Acrisure using this as a promotional tactic to get more people interested in the insurance they sell. Dealing with insurance can get boring and monotonous, so turning old forms into paper airplanes to toss onto the field could make it more interesting for fans.

Steelers fans wouldn't always throw something for fun or because it's not harmful. Some of them would resort to the "Bad Call Brick," which is straight to the point. The brick gets thrown whenever the ref screws the Steelers with a horrible call. There isn't a whole lot to break down with this, as the brick could do some breaking itself (side note: we do not endorse or condone throwing harmful objects at anyone. This is a hypothetical just for fun).

There were many great ideas from the discord, with some of them relating more to the city of Pittsburgh and what they're known for, but the three that were mentioned above were the best ones. Overall, the absolute best thing that Steelers fans could be known for throwing is the bird seed. It's creative, it's safe, and the Rally Pigeons could end up being a permanent fixture of Steeler Nation. All of yinz, get your bird seed, and let it rain onto the turf at Acrisure Stadium.
