The news struck at the end of May that Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Kenny Pickett had his car stolen from a dealership during an interview with 93.7 The Fan. What was most notable about having his car stolen was the fact that his playbook was also in the car at the time. The man who stole the vehicle was 60-year-old Christopher Carter who took the car to his home until being caught by the police after they tracked the vehicle. This seemed to be the end of the case, but it is all but over.

On Monday, Carter was expected to show up for his preliminary hearing at the Monroeville courthouse in Pennsylvania. He would not show up to his hearing and now has an arrest warrant issued on him. On top of his recent theft, he will be charged with much more since he did not comply and show up to his scheduled hearing.
Carter's original charges were theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Both of these are third-class felonies in the state of Pennsylvania. Now that he hasn't shown up to court, he will most likely add a failure to appear to his crime, which is another misdemeanor added to his already hefty charges.

Leadership That Is On The Steelers Team Right Now
It doesn't seem that Pickett is letting this incident get to him. Pickett has been a true leader for the team and this incident is just another example of that. Most quarterbacks and NFL players would make a big deal about having this happen, but Pickett hasn't spoken too much about the issue. It seems like he is more concerned about his team, rather than off-the-field issue. Looking back just a few days before the incident happened, we even saw him taking his offensive line out to dinner. This speaks volumes to the leadership that is on the Steelers team right now.

Although we are only in OTAs right now, expectations are high for Pickett. He had 2,404 passing yards and seven passing touchdowns in 2022. It is also worth noting he had 237 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns as well. This all led to the Steelers finishing 9-8 and being one game back from making the playoffs.
With many upgrades through the free agency and NFL Draft, the Steelers are in a position to be a playoff team and potentially make a run at the Super Bowl. The focus of the team will be on Pickett though. He will be going into his second season and at the age of 25, it will be a win now mentally for the Steelers.

Steelers quarterback, Kenny Pickett (#8) winds up to make a throw during 2022 training camp at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA.
Although Pickett had this incident happen to him outside of Pittsburgh, don't think that this is how the city feels about him. The run he went on towards the end of the season made him become a fan favorite and it looks like he will be the future of the organization.
