The Pittsburgh Steelers have finally made cuts to get their roster down to 53 players. Some of the standout moves that General Manager Omar Khan made was adding some draft capital for offensive linemen Kevin Dotson and Kendrick Green. They also surprised many people cutting defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko and tight end Zach Gentry. But they may not be done as there is a possibility that they could look into adding another cornerback to this already elite defense.

On Wednesday morning, Khan and the Steelers were back at it as they decided to sign former All-Pro cornerback Desmond King II. He's made a living playing in the slot and on special teams, but also has experience playing on the outside as well. He should be a great compliment to the secondary room heading into Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers, but does this mean Pittsburgh is now set at the CB position?

If The Steelers Were To Trade For A Cornerback
With these cuts from earlier in the week, there still looks to be some needed help at the cornerback position. The additions of Patrick Peterson and Joey Porter Jr. bring a ton of potential to the table, but they could still use some depth. Former Steelers offensive guard Ramon Foster has even mentioned that he thinks they will trade for a cornerback. He made this notion on his podcast The Ramon Foster Steelers Show where he thinks they will use the draft picks that they got from Green and Dotson to get another cornerback.
"It wouldn't shock me if Omar and the front office pretty much try to trade those picks that they just got, for a corner, as far as trying to get a guy this year. I wouldn't be surprised."
Hopefully, if the Steelers were to trade for a cornerback, it would be a younger player that can be used for years to come. Someone like Kristian Fulton from the Tennessee Titans or L'Jarius Sneed from the Kansas City Chiefs would be the value to expect if the Steelers went through and looked to trade for a cornerback.

A trade happening is possible, but the idea of the Steelers cutting and signing someone seems more likely. Teams still have around two weeks to get players situated and with the Steelers, there is a strong possibility someone will be getting cut for a cornerback. Even Foster said that during his younger years, he didn't feel safe from being cut when the initial 53-man roster would come out.
"Just because you make the initial 53-man roster, does not mean that you are on the team right now. If you're on the team on September 9 at 3:00, that is the official 53-man roster. That's when I, in my younger years, felt safe."
In the coming weeks, this will definitely be something to monitor. Khan has been able to work some miracles over the offseason and the question will be if he has one more in him. If he does, one can hope that it will be in the cornerback room.

Another position that the Steelers could look to add some depth to is on the offensive line. After trading two of their depth guys and making roster cuts, the position looks a little thin. The addition of an interior lineman, preferably a center, could be a real possibility as well. But overall, would make more sense if the Steelers went out and got a cornerback. Whether it is from the free agency, a trade, or the NFL Draft, these positions should be addressed in the future.

During the next few weeks, be on the lookout for a potential trade, hopefully for someone that will benefit the Steelers for years to come.
So, what do you think, Steeler Nation? Is there a possibility that they trade for a cornerback soon? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
