A day after Labor Day, the Pittsburgh Steelers are continuing to do what they can to create more cap space. The Steelers and all-pro defensive lineman, and recently named team captain for the fourth consecutive season, Cam Heyward have agreed to restructure Heyward's contract. This is in efforts to have the option to sign potential free agents as well as current players in the near future with this additional "wiggle room."

Roethlisberger Comments on Several Topics Heading Into Week 1

In other news, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger appeared on The #1 Cochran Ben Roethlisberger Show Tuesday morning. He shared his thoughts on Le'Veon Bell, James Conner, Landry Jones, and more.

"It's kind of been that way right, he hasn't been there so... like a lot of guys have said, we have to focus on the 53 [players] that are there and getting ready for Cleveland, and that's what we're doing right now," on Bell not showing up to the team's facility on Monday.

"In one sense, I definitely understand what's going on and where he's [Bell] coming from, and truthfully this was an opportunity with him being gone for guys like James Conner, [Stevan] Ridley, other guys to get as many reps as they can." Roethlisberger continued, "I think James [Conner] really took advantage of the opportunities and has done some great things."

Roethlisberger also spoke on his relationship with longtime backup quarterback Landry Jones.

"It definitely was kind of shocking, but I guess I understand why they did it in terms of businesswise. You know, Landry a free agent after this year, the other guys are a little cheaper." Roethlisberger continued, "He [Josh Dobbs] needs to prove that he is as valuable as Landry was off the field."

Roethlisberger wrapped up his interview giving lots of respect and praise to Myles Garrett and the Cleveland defense, how it will be "interesting" to see offensive coordinator Todd Haley again come week 1, and his personal success and dominance as a player in the state of Ohio. He also mentioned how he believes his personal window, as well as the team's, is still wide open for years to come.

Stay tuned for more updates.
