The Pittsburgh Steelers' division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, emerged as formidable opponents during the 2023 regular season, boasting an impressive 13-4 record. Despite their dominance, they faced defeat in the postseason at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs. The prospect of the Ravens further improving is daunting, particularly in their already formidable area of expertise: the run game.

Josina Anderson reported on Monday night that the Ravens have expressed interest in the star running back, Derrick Henry. He, in turn, has shown mutual interest in joining the Ravens as well.

Henry would represent a significant upgrade option for any team looking to bolster its roster, particularly one as talented as the Ravens. With two rushing titles to his name, the question arises: can Baltimore afford to add such a prolific player to their lineup? If they were able to pull this off, it would be one of the biggest moves of the 2024 offseason.

Having spent eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans, Henry now seeks a new home. Just about every team in the NFL would have interest in a player with Henry's talents.

However, securing Henry's services won't be without financial considerations. With numerous contracts to manage and salary cap limitations to navigate, the Ravens may find it challenging to bring him on board, unless he agrees to a significant pay cut. As Henry's career edges towards the later stages of his prime, he might be willing to sacrifice one or two million dollars to join a team like the Ravens, with the pursuit of a chance at a Super Bowl on his mind.

According to insights from Spotrac.com, Henry's projected market worth for a single-year contract stands at an impressive $10.3 million, a figure that could strain Baltimore's already tight cap space.

Despite being 30 years old, Henry has shown no signs of decline, maintaining his dominance on the field. In the 2023 season, he amassed 1,167 yards on 280 carries and scored 12 touchdowns, demonstrating his enduring value and potential impact on any team lucky enough to secure his talents.

Steelers May Get Saved By Ravens' Cap Space

While both the Ravens and Henry have expressed mutual interest in striking a deal, the Ravens face significant hurdles in making it happen. Undoubtedly, the Steelers and their fans are fervently hoping that the Ravens are unable to finalize a deal.

Having a player of Henry's caliber in the division, potentially facing off against the Steelers at least twice a year, is far from ideal. Steeler Nation will be closely monitoring their division rivals' moves during free agency, anticipating any developments with keen interest.
