The Pittsburgh Steelers officially placed tackle Zach Banner on IR today according to the NFL transaction wire.

The move comes a day after Banner announced he would under go surgery to repair a torn ACL he suffered on Monday night.

Replacing him on the 53-man roster is a familiar face in Jerald Hawkins. Hawkins was traded prior to last season but was available for the taking on Houston’s practice squad. Hawkins was originally drafted in the fourth round by the Steelers in 2016.

Practice Squad Shake Up

The Steelers lost safety Curtis Riley from their practice squad this week. The veteran has agreed to terms on a one-year contract in Arizona. He will join the 53-man roster for the Cardinals.

The Steelers have listed these players as their protected players this week from the practice squad:

OLB Jayrone Elliott, DE Henry Mondeaux, G Derwin Gray and RB Wendell Smallwood.

The team currently has one open spot on their practice squad.
