Pittsburgh Steelers team MVP, TJ Watt had even more to celebrate on Saturday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico as he married his long-time girlfriend turned fiancée, Dani Rhodes. The couple has Instagram posts dating back to December of 2016 after meeting at the University of Wisconsin.
Several Instagram stories Saturday evening show former Steelers’ such as Joe Haden, Joe Schobert and Ryan Shazier in attendance along with their wives to “celebrate love” as Haden described it on the social media platform. The ceremony and reception seem to have been kept quite private as there is not much out there and we all have yet to see official photos or videos of the two as officially husband and wife. We all know the edge rusher to be a dominant force on the field, but his better half also has an athletic background of her own.
Watt won’t be the only highly talented athlete in their marriage as Rhodes played soccer, started four straight years and was a Second Team All-American after her senior season in 2019. Rhodes was the Wisconsin State Soccer Player of the Year in 2015 and is tied for seventh all-time in Badgers history with 85 games played.
The new Mrs. Watt was also teammates with brother in law JJ Watt‘s wife, Kealia Watt for the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women’s Soccer League. Rhodes most recently competed for Úrvalsdeild kvenna club Þróttur Reykjavík in Iceland. The two Watt brothers both are now married to incredible soccer players.
This caps an incredible off-season for Watt as he was named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year back in January and is heading into another season that he is bound to be dominant in. As expected, both JJ and Steelers fullback Derek Watt were in attendance for the special ceremony and the days leading up to the event.
The brothers have been very active on social media the last week or so and the celebration appears to have been a week-long event down in Mexico. The three showed off their stylish matching outfits on TJ’s Instagram a couple days ago which certainly stood out:

Former Steelers Players In Attendance
As far as the average fan can tell, Watt’s former Steelers teammates Haden and Shazier have been active on social media down in Cabo San Lucas and appear to have attended the wedding as well.
It looks like Cameron Heyward and his wife, Allie, are on a tropical vacation as well, and it seems as if they are down in Mexico to join in the celebration, too. And while Schobert’s time in Pittsburgh was short lived, he has developed a relationship with TJ as both a Badger and a Steeler and is down in Cabo per Derek’s wife, Gabriella’s Instagram:

It would be safe to assume that some other teammates and former teammates are also down in Mexico for the Watt’s wedding and we will update this post as more comes up on their social medias!
Congratulations to TJ, Dani and the entire Watt and Rhodes families on a new chapter in their lives!
